Sorry, if I this has been mentioned before, but one of the greatest new features ist the new simulator, that also takes care of prontoscript! I just "played" Kazamm! in fullscreen mode! YEAAAH!! Well, OK, "played" is not quite correct, since everything was way to fast to react in time ;-) Checking scripts is now so much faster and easier - really great improvement. André |

I have PEP1.1 running OK. and i have PEP2 running fine on an XP laptop, but I can't run it on my vista64 HTPC ("The software has Stopped Working" or some similar cryptic message. Anybody successfully doing this out there?

| Search for something like "64" and you will find out how to get it running. |

Has anyone else noticed this problem with PEP2?
If your "display property font size" is set to anything other than 96 DPI, the Properties Window in PEP2 does not display properly. All other windows seem to scale correctly.
Anyone else have this problem... any work around? |

| No known workaround at this time. Did you see the Philips FAQ? I believe this was covered at one time there. You will need an account on their site. |

| I thought I read through all the FAQs but I might have missed it... didn't see anything about Properties Window display problems. I downloaded the latest version (36) last night. The problem still exist. |

Stupid question.....
I just picked up an Asus EeePC {10" screen} as a lightweight alternative for programming on site. Sometimes i like to ride my bike to a jobsite if im only programming and the smaller pc is much nicer to carry. :)
It works well for c-bus and most other programs i use but on PEP2 it wont display right. The screen res is 1024x600 and it chops off at the building blocks tab. Is there a way around this?? Obviously i dont want to be programming a remote from scratch on this laptop but i would like to be able to do touch ups with it.
Any ideas?? |

Looking at a 9400 but I have Vista 64-bit (running in VM on a Mac Pro). Tried installing but the software will not run. So is there an option at this point?
EDIT: Did a search and found the instructions on hoe to change it ti a 32-bit extension. It now looks like it's working.

Thank you very much Pronto for throwing all my leaned codes away. You see, I made the mistake of learning codes on buttons when I bought the TSU1000, and every other model up to the 9400.
How foolish of me to think that you would respect your customers by being backward compatible. If you want your system to work with databases, then you should have done the conversion for me. Were you too busy?
Ah yes, I understand. You don't develop the right product for end users. The solution is to *define* it as an installer product.
Excellent. I am sure this is helping your market share.

| How to migrate from V1.1 to V2.0 is fully documented in the Philips FAQ for PEP V2. It clearly states how to keep your codes. |

I think I found that but I did not fully follow it. It sounded like I had to create a dictionary, then reset the code for each button on my remote. That is many hours of work. It sounds very much like an algorthm that could have been implemented in a couple of days by a talented programmer.
One point I was making, should any one be interested, was how Philips could keep their customers. Not how I can keep my remote codes ;)
My friend and I both have 9400's. We think it is a fantastic piece of hardware. However, the software is so difficult, that neither one of us is going to buy another. Another particularly bad implementation is the lack of mapping for most codes. I had to learn my TiVo HD codes because I got tired of trying the codes in the beloved database. Other remote manufactures seem to understand how to present a list of the models and select the correct codes.
You may think I am ranting and ignore it, but you are being hurt in the marketplace. Features that make it easier for the end user also make it easier for the installer ;)

This is all you have to do:
1. Make sure all the IR codes in the code pages have ascii names (no symbols) 2. Do a device--> right click. Save to My Database. Add correct info (brand, type, model) 3. Open ‘Database quick access’ and re-drag all the codes to the code page
Only a couple of minutes to do. No dictionary. No resetting codes. |
