I do have a dedicated PC that my Pronto interfaces with, so if it’s necessary to involve the PC in the solution, this is OK. I’ve already written my own media service on my XP64 and accessible by my Pronto 9600 so I’m familiar with socket connections etc. What are your recommendations? Using RFX9600 via RS232 was very easy. I have no 2-way control as I do not know how to do things like that, but the system has been working almost 2 years now, without any problems. Their HLC lighting is completely retro-fittable as long as their is a neutral wire in the switch locations. The system is fairly inexpensive and can easily be controlled by a Pronto. I've finished some software standard for bi-directional IP communication with the KNX bus. This bus system is "the world's only open STANDARD for home and building control" (KNX slogan ;-) In the meantime more than 150 companies joined to the KNX association - like ABB, Siemens, Schneider... The software I was working on is using an IP-KNX Gateway. This means you don't have to invest into an extender. There is a nice module called "KNX IP BAOS 770", see http://www.weinzierl.de/main/main_ip_baos.html. This is an object server that works directly on the Application Layer - which means, the registers you write or read on can be assigned directly in the ETS Software to group addresses. There are two way scripts written for the Pronto's for lighting, Dynalite, Clipsal, Lutron etc , but im not sure if any off them can tell you is a lamps is Blown, If its just one room wont you see if the lamp has blown? To Detect remotly if a lamp is blown , you would need to to Current measurement on each circuit of lighting.. more hardware and more Pronto script to be written , if you have deep pockets it can be done :) Pronto lead the way and the rest follow.... So the only way to determine the status of the lighting is to check it when it is awake. The simplest [only?] way would be to add a button that checks things only when the button gets pushed. If your chosen lighting system can provide the information in some way via a network connection (eg light/device level/status), you should be able to script to show it on the pronto. I have a second Leviton ZWave RS232 interface on my RX9600 to control ZWave lighting in our HT directly. Works perfectly. I also have the integrated HAI prontoscript module on my TSU9800 and TSU9600.
