A few more updates got done this weekend.
Now have random image.
Also have a .PHP script that will grab images from a user specified folder. This was a request from a QNAP user, and as I own a QNAP I gave it a go. So far it's working great. I have it generating an RSS feed so I can re-use my existing code. The php scans the folder and checks the image size. When the image is requested it resizes the image to fit within 640x480 and streams it straight to the remote. On the QNAP I've tried it with some 12mb JPEG files it takes around 10seconds to resize but it gets there :) Normal 3mb jpgs (approx 8mp camera) take about 3-4 seconds.
The script should run on any pc/mac/nas with a webserver and PHP4+ with GD library installed.
I'll keep testing and keep you posted. |

If you can drum up some more interest I'll definitely look at doing a 9400 version.
I love my 9400 it's what I use all the time... My 9600 purely gets used for development. |

ProntoPic V 1.3 is out.
Bug Fix: If using picasa.google.XXX where XXX wasn't .COM it didn't work. Big apologies to all who had been frustrated to why mine was working and theirs weren't. Just another quick note on this too. It will only download images smaller than 1200x1200 anything bigger than that I found brings the remote to a grinding halt.
Minor Change: In 'clock only' mode you can specify 'white','black','default' you can see what each of these look like on the assets page. I like this feature very much.
Addition: You can also now setup the translation so the weather will be shown in a different language.
Thank you for this nice programming tenchi!
P.S. To have better overview if all photos are copied I labeled the photos from photo1 to photo30. |

| Unless is supplies some form of XML feed then no. And even if it did would still need to be tweaked to work with it (which potentially wouldn't be too hard). |

| Does the latest version of ProntoPic9600 have the ability to cycle through photos from a public folder so that XCF files don't get bloated? |

The pronto PAL which is a stand alone PC based program that supports a pronto PRO in much the same way as a Crestron controller supports the Crestron touch screens; has always had a picture frame service process. The PAL manages the folders and allows the user to select on the Pronto what folder is to be used. It supports multiple Prontos all doing different picture shows, and keeps them alive with the screen on under the assumption that they are probably docked or soon will be. It uses seven random transitions between slides to make it interesting.
It does not support a 9400, looks good on the 9600 and great on the 9800. In my home when a pronto is booted the user has 30 seconds to start a slide show which turns it into a digital picture frame otherwise it dedicates itself to the room it is in (e.g. Theater, Master bedroom, Guest bedroom, etc.). |

ProntoPic has always supported Flickr and Picassa, even before it supported having the images embedded. |
