Can't help with your original question - sorry, but can you share your Serial codes for the TH PH series? I've only got some basic ones from the manual.

Thanks

Well, the PIP codes would be useful. But what I love to do is access some of the more specialised functions such as 1:1 pixel mapping on/off. And Horizontal shift etc. Though I'm not sure these are exposed via rs232...

DGE:DBD 01 00 is 1:1
DGE:HPO -124 - 0124

Working on it...

\x02DGE:DBD00\x03
\x02DGE:DBD01\x03

\x02DGE:HPO0124\x03 etc...

What are you using 1:1 for?

Thanks for those, I'll give them a go...

I was using 1:1 for a media PC that seems to look better if the screen doesn't try to do anything funky.

Some HD content looks better at 1:1, though still experimenting!

Do you have any documentation of those codes?

1:1 mapping on Pannys turns off the internal scaler. It is useful if one is using an external video processor. The external processor will have better algorithms and you don't want the Panny to reprocess the signal again when it receives it which will degrade picture quality. So 1:1 mapping solves that problem. You get the best PQ that way.

Hi advorks,

Very interested to find that the internal scaler can be turned off in the PH series. Going to put an RS232 cable in place. I'm using a Lumagen scaler, so should be able to test the results.

Found this document, which appears to details some functionality:-

http://sleepytom.co.uk/files/panaso...eries-plasma-rs232.pdf

Before I install the cable, can I check the command you mentioned:-

DGE:DBD 01 00

It's labelled as HD size in the document I've posted a link for.

Have you tested this command, and confirmed it works as expected?

Thanks in advance

Cheers, Lee

Hi,

Thanks for confirming that.

An export of the codes would be most appreciated.

Cheers, Lee

Thanks for those codes, just what I was after!

Not seen a power toggle. The manual does state the following:

"With the power off, this display responds to PON command
only."

Which would mean I guess there isn't one. You could read the power state and use that.
