Hello, I just purchased 9600 (hasn't arrived yet) and am trying to figure how to connect some of my 20+ analog cameras to it.
I will buy few Pan 511 IP cameras so I hope I won't have too many issues getting those on the Pronto, but what about all those analog cameras?
My DVR's Web interface won't work on my smart phone so I doubt it'll work on pronto (requires log in, ActiveX, etc.). I can take my video out (currently running to channel modulators) and split it to feed into some sort of analog to IP converter, but the ones I've researched are about $800 for 4 channel units which works out to be about $200 per camera. With 20 some cameras, I can't see spending over $4,000 on analog to IP converters just to see images on the remote, which ultimately is there to control TV, where I have my modulated channels visible on a 37"+ TVs not 3.5" display.

Still, it would be nice to not have to stop a game, or movie and check on the rest of the house from time to time.

What are you using that works and it's not too expensive on a per/channel basis?

Also, is there a limit on how many cameras (IP addresses/configurations) 9600 can handle?

Thanks,

Mario

I've only worked with Axis encoders which work great, but for more than 4 cameras you would want to go with one of their blade solutions which is expensive!

There is no limit to the amount of IP addresses it can connect to, I believe the only restriction is if you wanted to connect to more than 15(?) at a time. I can't remember off hand how many sockets you can have open at the same time, it's somewhere around there though.

Just so you know, if you were to go with an encoder solution, as with my experience with Axis, you would have one IP address PER server, not per camera. So, you would not be looking at 20 IP address, maybe just 1!

Aviosys do some cheap 4-channel video servers. If you manage to make these work, let me know. I have an Axis server, but it is very expensive.

Has anyone successfully used Aviosys servers with 9600s?
