Updated to add all discrete codes from latest Samsung Documentation: DISCRETE KEY 2007

I tried these on my new Samsung 4264, but it didn't respond at all. But they do work after I changed the fifth word from 015A to 00AD.

LCDs largely use NEC2 device 7.7 codes which are the codes listed in the recent update.

Plasmas largely use NECx2 device 7.7 codes.

Most of PHSJason listed codes that say device 7 are actually NECx2 device 7.7 codes.
Try those.

The 4264 is a plasma is it not?

This also worked on my LN-T5265. Thanks!

LCDs largely use NEC2 device 7.7 codes

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen a lot of learned (rather than generated) NEC2 7.7 signals.

Some devices aren't very picky about signal timing and will work just fine with NEC2 even though they're designed for NECx2.

I haven't specifically investigated Samsung LCD's, so I don't know, but I wonder whether they use NEC2 as you say or whether they use NECx2 but are non picky about timing so that either NEC2 or NECx2 will work.

John,

The last Samsung LCD we did fit the pattern you mentioned. In a TSU-6000, the NEC2 codes would not work at all. Not even a blinking light response from the set. Those same codes being sent from an AMX system worked just fine. The NECx2 codes would work from both the pronto and the AMX system. It is my opinion that the latest LCDs use the NECx2 code set and are getting more picky about the timing. The AMX was run through an emitter, so it may have tweaked the NEC2 timing just enough to make them work.

I have tried both NEC2 and NECx2 codes on both Plasmas and LCDs and I have learned codes from a number of TVs that have indicated this to me, however, it seems that a number of the latest LCDs are now using the NECx2 set as well.

None of the plasmas I have used in the last two years have responded to any of the NEC2 codes. A number of LCD models prior to '07 have only responded to the NEC2 commands.

HDMI 3 discrete code for HL-T series
I purchased an HL-T5087S on July 1. I have been following the discussion on this website for a while and I have contacted Samsung US customer Service on this issue mutiple times. I have two open tickets with Samsung for months and I also spoke to a supervisor (Chris) who was also unable to resolve this issue but suggested to request resolution via a written request. So far, Samsung has not resolved this issue. All codes posted on this website do not work for the HDMI3 input on my TV, and others seem to have the same issue. It is entirely unclear to me why Samsung US Customer Service ignores this problem. If the problem is an unknown code, a resolution for US Customer Service could be as simple as sending an e-mail to the Samsung business unit which developed the new HL-T series TVs and request that the codes be sent. If the problem is a technical defect in the HL-T series, it will not simply go away by ignoring it. Quite to the contrary, the cost to Samsung will increase with increasing number of defective units sold.
So if you have the same issue, please send a written request to Samsung by going to the samsung.com website, go to the "contact us" link at the very bottom of the page, select DLP TV. Don't be irritated by the fact the the "model" pull-down menu on the next page will not even show any HL-T series models. I selected another model and specified in the body of my request which model I am talking about. And you need to be patient, Chris told me that the backlog is at least two weeks. Hopefully, if enough people report about this problem, Samsung US customer service will finally consider investigating it.

Most likely, you are experiencing a firmware issue. Samsung has had repeated issues with IR codes sets varying from one version of firmware to the next. Most likely, the newest HLTs support the HDMI3 code, while earlier versions do not. Same issue with the first runs of DLPs(HLM) supporting discrete power, but not input, then from version 314 and up supporting power/input, then later still supporting discrete color and aspect.
Even if your purchase was recent, it doesn't mean that you have the latest version of firmware. The set could have been stored for quite some time and need to be updated by Samsung to the latest firmware to support the HDMI3 code.

I don't have a HLT in front of me to test, so this is purely speculation based on experience.

I have a HLT5087, which shipped with firmware 1023. I recently updated it to v. 1026, dated 8/15/2007. The HDMI3 codes I've seen posted here don't seem to work still . . . FYI, the firmware package can be found on this page.

I tried these on my new Samsung 4264, but it didn't respond at all. But they do work after I changed the fifth word from 015A to 00AD.

I can confirm that these codes (with the 00AD in the fifth word) work with my LN-T5271F. Thanks to you, I now have discrete input codes -- yay!

Thanks very much!

Could you please tell me where exactly I can find the version 1026 firmware package under the link you provided? There is a long thread on this site, but I do not find a link to the firmware. Also, where can I find instructions for updating the firmware?

All,

Can anyone confirm if the PPM42S3 is capable of using discretes? I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support without getting a resolution to my question.

Thanks everyone!

Sean,

I'm trying to get my OneForAll universal remote to do some discrete functions
on my new Samsung LNT 4671F. Thought you might be willing to help me do this.

I have the RemoteControlProgrammer software and JP1 cable that is supposed to let me convert the Pronto codes and download to the OFA. I did this once several
years ago, so probably all I need is a few pointers.

Thanks

Ed

Sean,

From your profile I notice that you have an MX-500. Can you tell me if,
on affirmitive, how you transferred these codes to the MX-500? I have
an MX-500 that I'm trying to mkae work with my new SamsLN-T4671F.

Actually, I'd appreciate it if ANYONE could tell me how to get these codes
over to my MX-500. Or, for that matter, to my One-For-All through the JP1
port.

Thanks in advance for any help or comment.

Did you try the codes posted in this thread?

There is also another Samsung code thread. Search for "x-post" and Samsung.
