I am trying to use my Microsoft Media Center Edition Remote Keyboard for Windows XP to control my windows XP non media center pc. I have a usbuirt and girder software. It can learn so codes but sometimes they come through differently. Has anyone had success doing this? Also does anyone know where i can find a IR CODE list for this keyboard?

Not having used USBUIRT or Girder... what are you learning the keys in, Girder? But either way, the keyboard uses Philips RC6 format, which means they have parity/toggle bits, meaning that the keys will alternate between two different codes. I'm not sure how Girder handles that, but I would think there would be a predefined configuration for it already.

Yea Girder has a learn mode where it attemps to learn the ir single. It does come up with a different code each time for the same key. Is there any free software available that i could get ahold of to be able to read these code?

. I know exactly what your problem is. the Microsoft Hardware sends reflector values on each button push. So say you press the Mute button twice in a row. it will send two distinct but similar remote codes. On the third push it will send the same signal as the first push. It basically flip flops the button pushes. So when you try and learn in Girder it is learning one of hte two codes. So your remote will only work on every 2 button pushes.

I have the same problem with USB-UIRT and my software Intelliremote found at http://www.intelliremote.com If you use the straight MS eHome IR Receiver my software detects it and will work for all your button pushes since I can anticipate that reflector value.

Make sure you have the ehome drivers installed here. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F31DC8&displaylang=en

Then you can use Girder or eventghost to map your keys.

The steps outlined here http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/m...driver-obsolete-29024/ in the first post. basically, follow these steps.

Load "regedit.exe" and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Then delete the keys from "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3".

Afterwards, it will send the same code everytime.

Hello, I have a question about the quick keys for the media center remote for windows XP. I installed it and the drivers and latest rollup and it worked fine. The next time I turned it on, the keys somehow switched functions. The space bar now is the delete key and some of the letters are hotkeys. How do I undo this and go back to how it originally worked...and how did I accidently make these changes in the first place in order to avoid making the same mistake. Thanks!
