I recently purchased the Harmony One to control my equipment. As advertised, it's great for the newbie. Setup was a snap, the button layout was great and the touch screen is a definite plus. But what bothered me was the inability for the unit to be tweaked. I am considering buying the MX 880 but I didn't see it listed on the consumer software download on URC website. Does that mean I need to get this unit professionally programmed? I purchased the MX 850 to control my upstairs components a few years back and programmed it myself.

Here are the components that I am considering purchasing the MX 880 for:

Samsung 67" DLP
Samsung DVD/VCR Recorder
Onkyo TX SR706
Xbox 360
Wii
Time Warner Cable Box

I too would like to know the answer! I am considering getting one but if I cannot program it myself, no thanks.

I contacted URC and the MX 880 is considered a professional line. A regular consumer can not download the necessary software from their website.

However, if you ensure that the authorized dealer you buy the MX-880 from also supplies you with the software, you should be OK. The software can be distributed to end-users, but the dealer has to be the one to supply it.

Wow, Sony really doesn't want to sell their products do they. What a joke.

To the OP, like Daniel said authorized dealers can give you the softare (not required to), so search for a dealer in your area that is willing to give it to you. Also you can tweak the 880 programming wise to do what you want, just keep in mind if you are looking for graphical tweaking the 880 is limited.
