Greetings all...
I picked up the new Magnavox digital converter box at Walmart yesterday, and it's great...no more analog broadcasts :)
While the wife appreciates the crystal clear reception, she's not enthused with yet another remote added to control the converter box. I'm pretty uneducated about remotes and would like to consolidate the 3 or 4 we now have to control the following...
1.Bell & Howell 26" tv with PIP (This is about 10 years old, and believe it's really a Magnovox/Phillips manufacture.)
2. Phillips 4-head VCR deck - about 8 years old.
3. Toshiba DVD player
4. Hauppage Media Player
5. Magnavox TB100MW9 Digital converter.
I believe these are all infrared devices, and I don't need anything fancy (or expensive.) I think the codes for the television, VCR, and DVD players will be relatively easy, but knowing the codes to enter for the converter box and media player might be another matter.
Any suggestions on this GREATLY appreciated!

Found a solution that works well...
I picked up a Sony RM-VL600 universal remote with learning capability. With this unit, I've been able to program all the functions of the TB100MW9 DTV Converter box.
I picked up this unit at Walmart for $25, but have seen it on Amazon for as little as $16.
This remote is a vast improvement over the remote that comes with the Magnavox DTV converter, and was easy to program. |

I just purchased two Magnavox TB100MW9 DTV Digital to Analog Converter boxes. I spent about 1 1/2 hours trying to set it up with one of our TV's. I do not have cable, just a multi directional TV aerial. I followed the directions to a "T" for setting up the connections to include a VCR. Everything went the way the manual said except for two things:
(1) I cannot get NBC channel 4 or the PBS stations even after trying to add them manually. It just keeps saying "no signal". Bull no signal! I am close to New York City, so signal strength (especially for NBC) should not be a problem.
(2) My VCR won't work with this converter box. I followed the wiring setup as shown in the manual. I even tried different wiring setups. Nothing works. What good is this if I can't record or watch TV programs using my VCR?
Has anyone had similar problems with channel selection and VCR? |

I bought the same Digital Converter from WalMart; Magnavox TB100MW9. I have a Sony Universal Remote RM-V310. I already have it programed to my Toshiba TV / Optimus stereo AMP / Pioneer CD deck.
I would love to be able to program this remote to my new DTV Digital Coverter and my wife's TruTech DVD player. Is it possible? Where would I find the codes? |

I also purchased at Wal-Mart the Magnavox TB100MW9 and hooked it up with no problems. The picture and performance is great. Due to the fact that the stations are not at full power as yet the sound is high and low for different channels.
My biggest complaint is the same as yours, I cannot record off of my VCR. I call the company and they explained that you only could record the station that you are currently watching! This was never stated on the instructions or on any information offered before hand.

When you apply for your government converter box coupons take note of all the
eligible converter boxes.Your kind goverment has screened them all for you.
The only ones that are eligible for the coupon are without a doubt some of the
worst ever pos tuners on the planet.Use the credit card coupons as handy wallet size
ice scrapers.The only tuner that even comes close to being usable is the Samsung
DTB-H260F.It runs about $160 and is not eligible for the worthless coupon.Don't
waste your time even bothering to get the coupons,another shaft from uncle sam. |

I had the same problem with channel 5 KSL in Salt Lake City Utah.
I surfed the net and found that this channel is UHF rather than VHF which meant I need a UHF antenna.
When I installed the UHF/VHF antenna the converter picked up channel 5.

| The Philips, universal remote, SRU2103/27 will control the Magnavox TB100MW9 set top box. It will also control two other devices... VCR or DVD and TV. If you are looking for inexpensive, this is the answer. Rite Aid was selling it for $4.99 with a $4.99 mail-in or online rebate! That made the total cost 30 cents here in Michigan. |
