CEDIA 2008 Video Report Interested in the latest universal remotes? Of course you are! And what better way to catch up on the newest controls to hit the market than sitting back, relaxing, and watching it all unfold on video?

The home theater and home automation-oriented CEDIA Expo, second in size only to CES, is quickly becoming a premier location to release new products. And indeed this year’s show – held for the third and last time in Denver, Colorado – was no exception. In addition to numerous new audio, video and home automation devices there were also a number of new remote controls. And we’ve brought back the goods on tape!

I’m pleased now to be able to bring you our fourteenth video production, the CEDIA Expo 2008 Video Report. This year’s report is an information-packed fifteen-and-a-half minutes with interviews from four of the biggest names in universal remote controls.

Here's what you can expect to see:

  • Philips' Pronto Professional TSU9800 & 2-way control
  • Remote Technologies' U2, T1-B, RK3-V & A/V distribution products
  • Universal Electronics' Nevo S70 & Q50 2-way control
  • Universal Remote Control's Complete Control MX-450, MX-880, MX-6000 & PSX-1

On the download page there are links to three different versions of the video, starting with the highly recommended “HDTV” version in 720p high definition for anyone with enough bandwidth and PC power to play back this VC-1 encoded file. Next up is a “medium” resolution version for general broadband users, and finally there’s a “small” version for anyone that doesn’t want to commit to a big download (but don’t expect much in the video or audio quality department).

This is our eighth video to date produced in HD, and I hope you’ll also have to time check out some of the others!

I have a MX-950 that will not connect to any of 4 computers. 1XP
and 3 Vista models. I get Unable to connect [EX-FI] on all of them.
After about 3 hours I got a 900 to connect, but that didn't help the
950.
